Enlarged view: Portrait of Adyasha Dash

Adyasha Dash has joined SMS lab in December 2024 as a Swiss National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow. Her current research is focused on developing physiology-integrated AI-based virtual reality platform for stroke rehabilitation. This research aims to exploit computational methods such as explainable machine/deep learning, sensor fusion, statistical physiological signal processing and modelling along with technologies such as virtual-reality, wearable-nearable sensing and robotics.

Prior to joining SMS lab, Adyasha worked as a Research Fellow at National University of Singapore on an A*STAR funded project focused on holistic stroke rehabilitation. Her work there was to develop close-loop mood-mediation tools using artificial music generation systems and physiological signal processing. She also conducted human-based studies for validation of the developed

Adyasha has earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering in Aug, 2020 from Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, India. Her, PhD thesis is focused on developing quantification methods and rehabilitation solutions for upper limb rehabilitation of post-stroke patients. During her PhD, she was a visiting research fellow at laboratory of Computer Science, Robotics and Microelectronics of Montpellier, University of Montpellier and the French National Center for Scientific Research (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, CNRS) where she has gained experience on different electrical stimulation protocols (FES, tDCS) for stroke rehabilitation.

Adysha’s long-term research focus is on developing technology-based solutions for precession rehabilitation for people with disability and elderly. Apart from being a researcher, she is a yoga and meditation practitioner.
