Michael Sommerhalder
Michael Sommerhalder received his B.Sc. (2017) and M.Sc. (2019) degree in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich. He focused his master studies on robotics and computer vision. In his master thesis he developed a novel collision avoidance pipeline and investigated on combining haptic rendering techniques with classical computer vision methods, with the goal to overcome conservative safety margins and to enable safe physical human-robot interaction in partially unsupervised rehabilitation therapy.
In 2019 he joined the Sensory-Motor Systems Lab as an engineer and continued his work and is now pursuing his PhD with a focus on improving robot-assisted upper limb rehabilitation therapy.
