Sara Padilla Neira

Sara was born in 1999 in Rome, Italy. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (UCBM) in 2021. In December 2023, she graduated with honours at Politecnico di Milano, where she received her Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a specialization in Technologies for Electronics.

During her Master’s studies, Sara undertook an international mobility at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), carrying out her Master’s thesis on the development of an ankle home-rehabilitation system for children with Cerebral Palsy.

Sara joined the SMS Lab as a PhD student in March 2024, and focuses her research on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) therapy personalization through unobtrusive sensors and automated beds for closed-loop interventions in a home-setting.
