CYBATHLON Record Races

With the aim to further stimulate the development of assistive devices that are tailored to the needs of the end-users with respect to activities of daily living, CYBATHLON continues to challenge developers of assistive devices and the end-users of the devices, its pilots, with a new format, called “CYBATHLON Record Races”.
In several disciplines different kinds of single tasks will be performed in so-called “Events”, organized by teams from all over the world, with their pilots at their local facilities at any time. The teams are invited to let their pilots perform a race trying to beat an existing record in the specific event of a discipline. The resulting score including the respective footage that proves the performance of the pilot shall be submitted for approval by the CYBATHLON Record Jury prior to publication on the CYBATHLON Record Platform.
CYBATHLON Record Races will let the community further grow, give teams and pilots additional visibility, and prepare them for the next main CYBATHLON Championship planned in 2028. The record races can be performed with minimum effort and material which is available at every location. Results of the trials can be published even if the pilots are not beating a record.
Teams and pilots must submit written consent to ensure that they are following the rules and perform a fair race. An independent referee must be engaged to score the race and submit the results. Teams are responsible for keeping the highest standard for the safety of their pilots, team members, referees, spotters, and other people involved.
