Travel information to Bern and between venues
Bus lines 102-106 and bus line 11 take you to the congress venue within seven minutes about ten times per hour from Bern Bahnhof / main station (you may check your external pageConnection | SBBcall_made for further details). Bern main station Bern main station is centrally located in the city and within walking distance are various sights and accommodation options.
Tram line 9 also runs every six minutes from the main station to Guisanplatz Expo, so you can easily reach the venue of external pagethe World Climbing Championships 2023call_made in 15 minutes. Or, by staying at an accommodation in the City of Bern, your room key is a ticket for free for the public transport in and around Bern (see external pageBern Ticket - Bern Welcomecall_made).
The A1 motorway, which connects Geneva with Zurich and even further east with St. Magarethen, is also in the immediate vicinity of the conference venue. There is a large multi-storey car park right next to the motorway exit, from where you can reach your seat at the congress in two minutes by foot.
Accomodation recommendation
Of the diverse selection of hotels around the centre of Bern, the external pageSorell Hotel Arabellecall_made is a good choice. The cosy business hotel is located on the bus lines 102-106 to the congress venue, at the second stop from the main station Bern, Mittelstrasse. A room per person per night costs about CHF 140 (checked in January).
The external pageHotel National Berncall_made is in a comparable price range and offers a similar level of comfort. This hotel is a two-minute walk from the main station Bern.
For more economical budgets, the external pagelocal youth hostelcall_made is a good option. Please be aware, that there are just very little beds left (checked in January). In a shared room you find a comfortable night of sleep already for CHF 54 per person. A 10 minutes walk will lead you from the main station down the hill to the youth hostel next to the Aare. Alternatively, Bus Nr 30 can give a lift to Dalmazibrücke and back.
And for all nature lovers, we recommend a good night's sleep at the external pagecampsite Eichholz Berncall_made. CHF 24 are charged per night for 1 person and a small tent. For all guests who are tired of heavy luggage, the campsite also offers a handful of economical rooms (no breakfast available). Tram line 9 takes 16 minutes from the main station Bern to the terminus Wabern, Tram-Endstation, from where the campsite, directly on the Aare, is a short walk away.
Regardless of the accommodation, a free ticket for public transport (Zone 100/101) is included in the visitor's tax.
